Spotify has launched its "prompted playlist" AI feature in the U.S. and Canada after successful testing in New Zealand. The tool allows users to create custom playlists using natural language prompts and set automated update rules—a strategic MOVE to convert free users into paying subscribers.

The rollout coincides with a planned 8% price hike for U.S. premium subscriptions, rising to $12.99 in February. Molly Holder, VP of Product Personalization, emphasized the feature's user-centric design: "Listeners want to actively shape their experience, not just receive algorithmically generated content."
